Coaching vs Therapy: What’s the difference?

Coaching is for people who are functioning but stuck, needing direction, structure, and accountability. Coaching is forward motion. Therapy is deeper emotional processing.

Therapy is a better fit if you’re:

  • Deeply depressed or unable to function in daily life

  • Experiencing panic attacks, trauma or PTSD symptoms, or severe anxiety

  • Needing emotional stabilization 

  • Managing a clinical diagnosis

  • Wanting slower-paced, relational, emotionally focused work

What coaching does Not do:

  • Process past trauma or family history

  • Treat diagnosis directly (anxiety, depression, ADHD, addiction, etc)

  • Move slowly or circle around issues

  • Enable avoidance, blame, or excuse
