What to expect from our PARTNERSHIP

Your journey begins here.

We’ll start with a clear, grounded assessment - not just of your symptoms, but of your story, your stress load, and the internal weight you’ve been carrying. I meet you exactly where you are, without judgement, understand your needs fully, and learn how I can best support you. Together, we’ll look at the patterns that keep pulling you back into the same cycles: self-criticism, pressure to perform, emotional exhaustion, barriers that are in the way of achieving the success you want.

Our work together will focus on creating a new scale and tipping it towards successes rather than failures, ultimately rewriting your narrative towards celebrating the small wins and feeling “good enough”. We will strengthen your nervous system, interrupt the automatic reactions that fuel pain, stress and burnout, build new neural pathways that support confidence and stability, and carry responsibility without losing yourself in it

You don’t have to hold all of this alone anymore.

Ultimately, it’s up to you. Resources like time and money are very real things that deserve to be considered. With that said, mental and emotional health is just like anything else: the more often you work at it, the higher probability for faster progress. 1-2x a week is generally a great place to start your journey.

  • I offer free consultations, 20-35 minutes depending, where we will discuss what you’re seeking and how I can best support you. Following a simple but structured format, our conversation will help to determine if we’re a good fit to work together.

After working with hundreds of clients, I’ve learned how deeply important the “right fit” is. I recognize that I am not the right therapist for everyone, and I highly encourage you to keep searching until you find the right therapist for YOU. You need to feel a strong sense of connection and the ability to build trust. Therapy is a sensitive relationship: having a sense of relatability and trustworthiness is an absolute priority.

  • Short answer: No. I provide private pay therapy sessions and all sessions must be paid in full at the time of service. For individual therapy, I am considered an out-of-network provider and can provide a superbill upon request, which your insurance may or may not approve. I cannot provide a superbill for couples therapy. Please expand the next section for more details on superbills.

  • If you’re seeking reimbursement for individual therapy through your out-of-network insurance benefits, I can provide a Superbill at the end of each month upon request. This document includes the dates of service, fees paid, and a mental health diagnosis - if your symptoms meet the clinical criteria. Insurance companies only cover mental health treatment when it is deemed “medically necessary”, which means a diagnosis is required.

While many clients find therapy beneficial even without a diagnosable condition, these sessions would not be eligible for insurance reimbursement and must be paid out of pocket. Please note that providing a diagnosis for the sole purpose of obtaining insurance reimbursement, when one is not clinically indicated, constitutes insurance fraud and is highly illegal.

If you do choose to use your out-of-network benefits, keep in mind that any diagnosis submitted will become part of your permanent medical record. This could potentially impact future decisions or opportunities, such as applying for military service. Additionally, insurance companies may request access to your therapy records, meaning your treatment will not remain fully confidential.

  • Couples therapy as I offer it, and as many relational therapists do, is not typically covered by insurance.

My approach centers on treating the relationship itself as the client. This means all interventions are directed toward improving the health and functioning of your relationship. While I may address individual mental health concerns with one or both partners, the overall treatment goals, plans, and documentation are focused on relational dynamics. If your personal symptoms—such as anxiety or depression—are rooted in relationship challenges, they will likely improve through this process. Relationship therapy can be highly effective in alleviating distress tied to relational disconnection. Very unfortunately, insurance companies often do not recognize the clinical value of relationship-focused therapy and do not consider relational issues as “medically necessary” for reimbursement purposes. Which doesn’t make any sense.

Traditionally, the most common way couples therapy is billed to insurance (either in-network or out-of-network) is by using CPT code 90847, “Family therapy with the patient present.” In these cases, the therapist typically assigns a mental health diagnosis to one partner - such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (F41.1) - and bills insurance under that individual’s name. This designates that person as the Identified Patient (IP), meaning they are seen as the primary recipient of care, rather than the couple or relationship as a whole. This model differs significantly from how I structure and deliver relationship therapy.

  • The therapy services I provide are built through an integrated Person-Centered approach with focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Somatic practices, Gestalt, and Gottman.

As an advocate for equal rights, I provide care to all people, period. The foundation of my practice is to create a safe space that is supportive of a personalized, equitable experience for exactly who you are and how you show up in this world.

  • I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California, and can provide therapy sessions to residents across the state.

If you would like to work with me but are not a California resident, coaching may be a great fit! Please note, coaching does not involve processing trauma, treating or diagnosing mental health conditions.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.  If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.  For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
